Our paid internships provide opportunities at the IDB, IDB Invest , and IDB Lab. Positions are available in our headquarters in Washington and in our offices throughout Latin America, the Caribbean, Asia, and Europe. 

You’ll be working on-site at IDB Headquarters with our teams during this program, with the occasional flexibility of teleworking.

Citizenship - Internships in Washington, D.C.

Be a citizen of any of our 48 member countries. Positions at IDB Invest do not have citizenship restrictions​.

Citizenship - Internships in Country Offices (COFs)

Be a citizen or legal resident of the country where the office you apply for is located​.

Availability

Be able to able to work full-time (40 hours per week) within predefined dates.​

Active Student

Be an active undergraduate (at least in the second year) or graduate student (with at least 50% of coursework completed).​

Consanguinity

You must not have relatives working at the IDB, IDB Invest, or IDB Lab.

First Job at the IDB Group​

This must be your first job at the IDB, IDB Invest, or IDB Lab. ​

  • Resume (CV)​
  • University Letter: You must certify your current enrollment status, expected graduation date, and be issued within the last three months.​
  • Academic Transcripts: Official or unofficial, issued within the last three months, and must include all courses taken and grades.​ 

Note: If you submit an unofficial transcript during the application, you will be required to provide an official transcript if you advance in the process.

Internships at Headquarters

During two months of hands-on experience, you will be part of teams providing operating and corporate solutions to clients from the public and private sectors.

This program is offered twice a year: 

  • Winter Internship: From January 16 to March 15
  • Summer Internship: From June 16 to August 15

Applications are open approximately three to four months in advance.

Note: Candidates may apply for a maximum of three internships positions.

Internship at our Country Offices

This program is designed for you to boost your career in international development and improve your own country’s quality of life.

We have 26 offices across Latin America and the Caribbean, plus offices in Asia, and Europe. To qualify for this internship program, you must be a citizen or have a work permit and live in the country where the office you apply for is located.

Our internship opportunities in Country Offices do not have a defined timeline or cohort. Dates depend on our business needs, from 2 to 6 months, so please make sure to constantly review our open positions.
