Maria Fabiana Jorge is the U.S. Alternate Executive Director for the United States at the Inter-American Development Bank.
Before joining the IDB, Ms. Jorge was the founder and president of MFJ International, LLC, a global consulting firm specializing in international business and foreign trade which was established in 2000.
Ms. Jorge has over three decades of experience in trade matters and negotiations and was deeply involved in numerous bilateral and multilateral trade agreements. For the past 30 years Ms. Jorge worked on intellectual property and access to affordable medicines. She has been a strong advocate for striking a balance between the protection of intellectual property rights and ensuring expedited access to affordable medicines for consumers.
In 2020, Ms. Jorge served as a consultant to the IDB on a supply chain project.
Prior to forming MFJ International, Ms. Jorge was a principal and head of the Latin American practice at Verner, Liipfert, Bernhard, McPherson and Hand (now DLP Piper), a law and lobbying firm in Washington D.C. She opened and managed the practice. Before joining Verner Liipfert, Ms. Jorge established the Latin American and Caribbean Division at The Rendon Group, an international strategic communications firm.
A native of Buenos Aires, Argentina, Ms. Jorge worked as a senior foreign trade analyst for bilateral and multilateral negotiations at the Secretariat of Industry and Foreign Trade of the Government of Argentina. She served as a special assistant to the Undersecretary for Trade. She also taught at El Salvador University in Buenos Aires.
Ms. Jorge received her MBA from Columbia University in 2000 and her BA with honors in 1987 in Political Science and International Relations from Catholic University in Buenos Aires, Argentina. She speaks Spanish, English, and French, and has a working knowledge of Portuguese.
Ms. Jorge moved to the United States over thirty years ago. She lives in Washington, DC with her husband, Doug Sosnik and their children Christopher, Phillip, and Nicole.
