Inst.Strengthening of Intendencia de Seguros
The project seeks to strengthen insurance market operations in Bolivia, by implementing the new insurance law, preparing related rules and regulations, bringing insurance companies in line with the new law, and strengthening the oversight capacity of the Office of Insurance Oversight (IS). The four subprograms are: (i) studies, development and modification of guidelines; (ii) audits of insurance institutions; (iii) training of IS technical and professional staff; and (iv) computer systems and database. Subprogram I funds diagnostic procedures, actuarial and risk studies, preparation of manuals and guidelines, and a proposal for rules and regulations. Subprogram II funds audits and due diligence with respect to 29 insurance firms in the country. Subprogram III funds courses, seminars, and internships. Subprogram IV funds systems hardware and software, preparation of a database, creation of a Risks Center, follow-up, and an early alert system.
