The main objectives of the project are: § The obtaining of background and first hand information on the project area § Identify potential social and environmental impacts both positive and negative, linked to the opening of fast communication routes to the northern part of Bolivia. § Identify socio-environmental management programs that should be implemented prior to construction. § Identify specific sensible areas that are prone to be more heavily impacted. § Identify necessary social, political and economic issues required to ensure that plans are possible to implement. § Propose alternatives for mitigation including rerouting of proposed road alignments, land titling programs, assigning of natural reserve status to sensible and ecologically important areas, educational and social promotion programs identified as required, technological training and others.
