The Caribbean Digital Transformation Institute
The general objective of this technical cooperation is to establish a Caribbean Digital Transformation institute (DTI) as a regional public good that will coordinate the regional ecosystem to transform MSMEs through digital technology adoption by, on the one hand, making available a "Digital Check-up" tool that can provide feedback to MSMEs about their state of digital maturity along 8 dimensions, and on the other, offer a set of customized, virtual, learning paths that can help them advance in their digital maturity. The project will also strengthen the ability of Business Support Organizations throughout the region to complement and further support the digital transformation of MSMEs in their countries by providing technical assistance to develop policy toolkits responsive to the precise needs of MSMEs in those countries. Finally, the project will strengthen the links between the University of the West Indies and Business Support Organizations, thus helping to further develop a regional eco-system to support innovation in MSMEs.

DIGITAL 101 – DIGITAL TECHNOLOGIES
The concept of Digital Transformation can be described as adopting business processes and practices to help the organization compete effectively in an increasingly digital world.  This definition of digital transformation has two important implications for managers: First, it means that digital transformation is fundamentally about how your business responds to digital trends that are occurring whether or not you initiated them, like them, or want them.  Second, it means that how an organization implements technology is only a small part of digital transformation. In cases where digital transformation does involve implementing new technologies, technology is only part of the story.  The digital transformation requires that institutions and all its workflows and org charts be transformed in order to build and sustain digital services. Thus, there is a clear need to provide capacity building to all stakeholders in various areas associated with the digital transformation.
