Education Sector Exchange, Mathematics and Interactive Radio Instruction
Considering the common emphasis on numeracy and literacy in both the Jamaican and Guyanese education program, the objectives of this CT ¿INTRA project are to: a) strengthen regional collaboration between Ministries of Education in the Caribbean region; b) allow the Ministry of Education and Youth of Jamaica to learn about the "interactive radio instruction" methodology employed in primary schools in Guyana in Mathematics and to adjust existing materials that were developed in the Guyanese context to the Jamaican situation to be used in a pilot initiative in Jamaican primary schools; c)allow the Ministry of Education of Guyana to learn about the literacy model developed and implemented in Jamaica and also analyze the support materials that are developed in Jamaica for possible future use in Guyanese classrooms at the nursery or primary level; and d)eventually develop and sign a Memorandum of Understanding between the two ministries with the intent to provide technical support to each other.
