YouthBuild Brazil: Mobilizing Youth and Communities for Change

This TC contributes to mitigating two persistent social inequalities facing the residents of Rio de Janeiro¿s favela communities: substandard housing and infrastructure and youth unemployment. Because for this segment of the population, access to basic public services is incomplete and the youth unemployment rate almost doubles the national average, the situational context is highly conducive to the deterioration of citizen security, and hence it is critical to generate and evaluate mechanisms for the design of public policies that discourage youths from incurring in illegal and criminal activities. This TC will benefit more than 800 youths and 300 community members.
