La brecha de acceso a la infraestructura aeroportuaria en América Latina y el Caribe
En la presente nota técnica se realiza una estimación de la brecha de activos para garantizar el acceso a infraestructura aeroportuaria en América Latina y el Caribe. Utilizando información geo-referenciada de las poblaciones a nivel municipal y de la localización de los aeropuertos de la región, las estimaciones indican que la región debería invertir 17.000 millones de dólares para atender las necesidades de infraestructura aeroportuaria de los 40 millones de habitantes en la región que viven en centros poblados de más de 100.000 habitantes y que no cuentan con un aeropuerto con estándares de servicio mínimos para el transporte aérea seguro a menos de una hora de su domicilio. Las estimaciones del monto de inversión son sensibles a cambios en el tiempo de viaje a los aeropuertos y al umbral poblacional mínimo del centro urbano al que se le debe dar acceso a infraestructura aeroportuaria. La brecha identificada equivale aproximadamente al 30% del total de inversión en transporte en América Latina en 2019.
