Central America, Panama and the Dominican Republic are Recovering, but Face Challenges

According to the latest IDB Group report, Costa Rica, El Salvador, Guatemala, Nicaragua, and the Dominican Republic have already recovered pre-pandemic economic activity levels. During 2021 the IDB Group approved $3.38 billion in financing to support the productive sector, inclusive recovery from the COVID-19 crisis, employment, value chains, and digitalization.

This investment, worth $1 million, will support students entering the labor market, provide job training, and present opportunities for youth, blue-collar workers, and the unemployed populations of Latin America and the Caribbean.

New IDB Publication Focuses on Closing the Gender Gaps in the World of Work

However, they remain below the Latin America and the Caribbean (LAC) average.

IDB Lab will strengthen Jamaican youth competencies

Some 1,200 unemployed and underemployed youth between the ages of 17 and 34, are set to benefit from a special IDB Lab programme aimed at strengthening economic opportunities and enhancement of their digital, business, and interpersonal skills. IDB Announces Winners of the Improving Lives Grant

The Inter-American Development Bank (IDB) today announced the ten winners of the 2020 edition of its Improving Lives Grant, part of its Community Relations Program.  The $25,000 grants are awarded after a rigorous evaluation process to organizations whose work benefits Latin American and Caribbean communities in the greater Washington, D.C., metro area.
