The 2012 IDEAS Energy Innovation Contest for the Caribbean was launched today. Awards of up to US$200,000 are offered for projects and enterprises which promote energy efficiency and access to renewable energy in the Caribbean region. The Inter-American Development Bank (IDB) will present today a comprehensive Action Plan to improve road safety and reduce mortality rates in Latin America and the Caribbean. Road accidents are the leading cause of death among 15- to 29-year-olds in the region, and the second leading cause of death for those aged 5 to 14.
