IDB extends deadline for open call for artists

The Inter-American Development Bank (IDB) is extending the deadline for artists to participate in an open call that is aimed for those who want to provoke, innovate and offer new perspectives on the development challenges of the region, as well as to demonstrate the immense artistic creativity of Latin America and the Caribbean.  The call will be opened until January 17th of 2018. Artists from Latin America, the Caribbean, and the United States can participate. 

IDB presents DIS\PLACE: Notions of Home in Latin American Photojournalism

Exhibition features works by 11 photojournalists from Argentina, Brazil, Colombia, Chile, Ecuador, Mexico, and Peru. The Inter-American Development Bank (IDB) will present the exhibition “ DIS\PLACE: Notions of Home in Latin American Photojournalism ” with works by 11 photojournalists who illustrate experiences of displacement in Latin America. The opening reception to the public will take place on November 15, 2017 at 6pm.

IDB hosts the "Touring Exhibition for the International Year of Quinoa 2013” in Washington DC

To highlight the virtues of the quinoa and to contribute to the recovery of the identity of the original peoples in Bolivia, the renown Bolivian artist Gastón Ugalde, has created the exhibition titled “Touring exhibition for the International Year of Quinoa”, emphasizing their ancestral feeding power that survived colonial attempts to eradicate native cultures.

IDB announces partner institutions for the 2010 Cultural Development Program

The Inter-American Development Bank (IDB) has selected 28 partner institutions to finance and provide technical assistance to small-scale cultural development projects in 21 countries. Under the Bank’s Cultural Development Program, these projects will receive grants of US$3,000 and US$7,000. The Cultural Development Program, managed by the IDB Cultural Center, aims to promote cultural development in Latin America and the Caribbean by financing projects and working hand-in-hand as project partner.

IDB supports CARIFESTA X taking place in Guyana August 25–28

This year Guyana is the host country of CARIFESTA X, the most important cultural biennal event for the entire Caribbean Community (CARICOM). As was the case a few years ago in Paramaribo, when Suriname hosted CARIFESTA VIII in 2003, the Inter-American Development Bank will participate in the event, highlighting the programs and activities of its Cultural Center.
