Deadline for accepting proposals for Regional Public goods is April 15, 2020 On  February 14, 2020, the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB) will launch the 2020 Call for Proposals for the Regional Public Goods (RPG) Initiative in Latin America and the Caribbean, which supports projects involving three or more countries.

IDB announces partner institutions for the 2012 Cultural Development Program

IDB research shows food crisis could deepen poverty in 19 countries

Latin American and Caribbean countries should strengthen social programs to alleviate the impact of higher food prices among 71 million poor people in the region, newly released numbers on the potential impact of food prices by Inter-American Development Bank show.  More than 26 million people in Latin America and the Caribbean could fall into extreme poverty if food prices remain high, according to the IDB.

IDB, Ricky Martin Foundation, Ayuda and local partners launch campaign against human trafficking in Washington, D.C .

The Inter-American Development Bank (IDB), Ricky Martin Foundation, the non-governmental organization Ayuda and the DC Mayor’s Office on Latino Affairs have partnered to launch Call and Live in Washington DC, a campaign that promotes an anti-trafficking hotline for prevention and victim protection. Other local partners of the initiative include Telemundo, Univisión, Washington Hispanic and Radio Viva 900.  

DIRECTV, IDB, Microsoft to present "Rock, Paper, Scissors" campaign

WHAT:    Piedra, Papel y Tijera (Rock, Paper & Scissors), a DIRECTV initiative in partnership with  the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB) and Microsoft aimed at transforming the physical infrastructure of schools and educational centers while promoting the development of low-income communities throughout Latin America.  The inaugural activity under this initiative will take place in the U.S.

IDB and Energy

The Inter-American Development Bank’s energy portfolio includes a wide array of investments aimed at improving the energy security of its member countries by exploiting both conventional and renewable sources. In 2007 the Bank approved US$2.5 billion in energy-related operations. Many of these loans will support high-priority gas and electricity infrastructure projects. For example, the IDB approved: A US$32.7 million loan for a wide-ranging investment program to strengthen Nicaragua’s electricity system.

The Inter-American Development Bank was created in 1959 to help accelerate the economic and social development of its member countries in Latin America and the Caribbean and to promote regional integration. The Bank has 47 member countries: 28 in the Western Hemisphere, 16 in Europe, as well as Israel, Japan and the Republic of Korea.  The Latin American and Caribbean countries as a group hold half the shares in the institution.
