Finance Ministers of more than 30 countries and high officials of multilateral organizations to meet Oct. 11 at the IDB

Finance ministers from 34 countries of the Americas and the Caribbean are expected to attend a high-level meeting on October 11 with executives of the Inter-American Development (IDB), the International Monetary Fund (IMF) and the World Bank (WB) to discuss policy options for financial inclusion and regional trade integration. Argentine Finance Minister Luis Andrés Caputo will chair the Ninth Meeting of Finance Ministers of the Americas and the Caribbean, which will be held at the IDB’s headquarters.

The Structured and Corporate Finance Department of the Inter-American Development Bank closed  the first transaction in Guatemala under its Trade Finance Facilitation Program (TFFP) with Banco G&T Continental S.A. Under this transaction, the IDB has extended its guarantee to cover an import financing of almost US$10 million, facilitating the import of medicine, turbo generators, condensators and black plates from the US, Costa Rica, Brazil, Japan and England to Guatemala.

In a signing event with IDB’s president, Mr. Luis Alberto Moreno, the Private Sector Department of the IDB announced today the joining of Banco Agromercantil de Guatemala, S.A. as the first Guatemalan bank to join its Regional Trade Finance Facilitation Program (TFFP). Under the TFFP, the IDB extends guarantees to cover letters of credit, promissory notes, bid bonds, performance bonds, advance payment bonds and other instruments used in international trade transactions.
