An innovative initiative would help level the playing field for Latin American and the Caribbean as countries around the globe compete to access COVID-19 vaccines. Today, the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB) announced a first-of-its kind initiative that would help Latin American and Caribbean countries better compete to obtain lifesaving COVID-19 vaccines. The instrument would help both countries and vaccine makers resolve indemnity obligations, thereby removing a key obstacle to vaccine contract negotiations.

Around 2,000 businesspeople of the global services sector from more than 50 countries will be taking part from July 13 to 22 in Outsource2LAC Virtual Week 2020, the main digital services outsourcing event in Latin America and the Caribbean. The forum aims to drive the growth of companies that provide global digital services, or knowledge-based services, in response to the economic slowdown caused by the COVID-19 crisis. In its eighth edition, this is the first time that the Outsource2LAC forum is held online.

The Inter-American Development Bank (IDB) has approved a US$750,000 (TT$5.1 million) grant to support the Caribbean Public Health Agency (CARPHA) in the coordination of the regional health response to the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic. The grant is being financed by the IDB Japan Special Fund which was first established in 1988 by the Government of Japan to foster social and economic growth throughout the IDB’s borrowing member countries.
