The "InvestmentMap" initiative continues to expand in Latin America and the Caribbean

The InvestmentMap Initiative of the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB) continues to make progress to promote good governance in the management of public investment through greater transparency and citizen participation. Since its inception in 2017, ten countries in Latin America and the Caribbean have joined the initiative and six of them already have platforms available to the public.

IDB Announces Settlement in Connection with Prohibited Practices

The Inter-American Development Bank (IDB) today announced the debarment of GL Systems LLC (“GL Systems”), an American company, for four years in connection with allegations of prohibited practices in three IDB-financed activities: (i) the Program for the Modernization of Customs, Excise and VAT Areas in Barbados, (ii) the Barbados Competitiveness Program, and (iii) an IDB corporate procurement contract.

Growth of the housing market for low-income people in México will be a central theme during the BASE III Forum International, to be held in Mexico City June 29-July 1 The Inter-American Development Bank (IDB) estimates that the housing market for the base of the pyramid in México –those people whose income is below $10 a day– grew 25 percent between 2000 and 2010, reaching $40 billion annually. Mexicans spend more on housing (24 percent of their total spending) than on anything other than food.

More than 750,000 low-income families in Mexico, Colombia, Costa Rica, Nicaragua and the Dominican Republic to benefit from the project Patrimonio Hoy, the housing microfinance program of CEMEX, will expand lending to low-income families in Mexico and four other Latin American countries with a partial credit guarantee of up to $10 million from the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB). As many as 750,000 families over the next five years are expected to benefit from this project.
