Representatives of the civil society organizations from 26 countries throughout Latin America and the Caribbean will meet in Bolivia on November 8-9 to host the XVII Annual Meeting of the IDB Group-Civil Society.

The Inter-American Development Bank (IDB) launched the 2017 Call for Proposals of the Initiative for the Promotion of Regional Public Goods in Latin America and the Caribbean (LAC), which supports projects aimed at resolving shared challenges and seizing opportunities for development through regional cooperation among at least three countries. Since 2004, the RPG Initiative has financed 140 projects, investing a total of more than US$103 million.

The Inter-American Development Bank (IDB) will on Jan. 15 award the GobernArte Prize for the most innovative government programs to five states and provinces from Latin America, in the smart government and the citizen security categories.
The winners will receive the prize from IDB President Luis Alberto Moreno at a special event in the Bank’s headquarters in Washington, DC. The winners are:

Leading experts in the preservation and revitalization of historic urban centers will gather at the Inter-America Development Bank next week to examine the lessons learned by 10 cities that undertook pioneering efforts in this field.
The two-day meeting, which is open the media, will feature short presentations on the experience of 10 cities in vastly different settings that have each carried out ambitious programs to restore and preserve historic districts as part of a broad strategy to generate jobs, attract tourists and protect cultural heritage.
President Moreno to announce new IDB financial package to confront food crisis in Latin America and the Caribbean

The President of the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB), Luis Alberto Moreno, and finance ministers from seven Central American countries will meet Tuesday, May 27, in Washington, D.C., to discuss the social and economic impact of rising food prices.
Ministers from Costa Rica, El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras, Nicaragua, Panama and Dominican Republic will attend the meeting.

The Inter-American Development Bank (IDB), Ricky Martin Foundation, the non-governmental organization Ayuda and the DC Mayor’s Office on Latino Affairs have partnered to launch Call and Live in Washington DC, a campaign that promotes an anti-trafficking hotline for prevention and victim protection. Other local partners of the initiative include Telemundo, Univisión, Washington Hispanic and Radio Viva 900.
