Trinidad and Tobago to increase social support for vulnerable groups with IDB help

PORT OF SPAIN, Trinidad – The Government of Trinidad and Tobago signed a loan agreement with the Inter-American Development Bank to fund a program for people most affected by the Covid-19 crisis in Trinidad and Tobago.
The US$24.5 million dollar will help ensure basic quality of life standards for vulnerable persons are maintained in the immediate period and during the economic recovery of Trinidad and Tobago.
The program will finance two components:

IDB launches 2017 Call for Proposals to promote Regional Public Goods in Latin America and the Caribbean

The Inter-American Development Bank (IDB) launched the 2017 Call for Proposals of the Initiative for the Promotion of Regional Public Goods in Latin America and the Caribbean (LAC), which supports projects aimed at resolving shared challenges and seizing opportunities for development through regional cooperation among at least three countries. Since 2004, the RPG Initiative has financed 140 projects, investing a total of more than US$103 million.

IDB invites feedback on new project impact mechanism for communities

The Inter-American Development Bank today unveiled its new proposed Independent Consultation and Investigation Mechanism (ICIM)—the process through which affected communities can voice concerns about an IDB project.
The ICIM is a draft proposal, which is open to public consultation for civil society groups and other actors to express their suggestions and provide feedback. The idea is to enhance and speed up the investigation process of external allegations.
Latin America and the Caribbean see slower growth in next four years

Latin American and Caribbean leaders expect per capita income to fall or grow moderately in the 2009–2012 period and governments to rely more on financing from international institutions, according to a survey by the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB). The expectations contrast sharply with the recent economic performance in the region, where product per capita grew 4.1 percent annually in the past five years.

Since the mid-1990s the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB) has been the leading source of multilateral financing for Colombia. Over the last 50 years, the IDB has approved more than US$14.8 billion in loans and non-refundable technical cooperation projects for Colombia.
Throughout its history, the IDB has supported the Colombian government and private sector in key development areas such as infrastructure, state modernization and reform, small and medium enterprise, agriculture, energy, climate change and environmental protection.
