IDB LOAN TO SUPPORT THE ENHANCEMENT OF HOUSING CONDITIONS FOR LOW-INCOME HOUSEHOLDS AND THE TRANSFORMATION OF THE COUNTRY’S URBAN SPACES The Inter-American Development Bank (IDB) approved US$50 million in loan resources to support Trinidad and Tobago’s effort towards improving the living conditions of low-income households and investing in urban spaces as part of a strategy to foster more sustainable development.

Two new studies on the region examine the current economic landscape and the work that the IDB Group has carried out over the last year. The economy of Central America and the Dominican Republic has continued to grow over the past year, although at significantly different rates depending on the country. For 2018, growth is estimated at 3.8 percent, a level similar to that of 2017, thanks to a robust economic performance by the region´s main trading partner, the United States.

In its second edition, the call for proposals will be open from March 4th to May 17th, 2019. The Superheroes of Development Award will recognize executing agencies of IDB-financed projects that have successfully addressed challenges during its implementation. The contest will identify eight finalists from across Latin America and the Caribbean who will travel to IDB’s Headquarters in Washington, D.C. to present their solutions.
