Today the IDB Group, the multilateral development banks (MDBs) and the International Monetary Fund (IMF) launched a joint report on financing the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). The report is released at the end of a critical year, in which the COVID-19 pandemic threatens to reverse progress on the SDGs. In response, MDBs have collectively mobilized a global response package of $230 billion between 2020 and 2021 to reduce the impact of the pandemic, of which $75 billion will be directed to the world’s poorest countries before the end of 2020.

Colombia will help improve Small and Medium-Sized Enterprises (SMEs) productivity and energy efficiency with an $8 million credit approved by the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB) to the Banco de Comercio Exterior de Colombia S.A. (Bancóldex). The credit’s resources are of a concessional nature and proceed from the Clean Technology Fund (CTF).

The Inter-American Development Bank (IDB) has launched the Pivot Movement to harness the most innovative ideas for Caribbean development and create a plan for the future of the region. The Movement includes a crowdsourcing contest and an event. Pivot Search is the crowdsourcing platform to receive new development ideas. It runs from September 2 to September 18, with a $5000 cash prize for each of the three winners.

Today, the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB) announced the eight finalists for the third edition of its Superheroes of Development Award, which recognizes the innovative solutions devised and valuable lessons learned by executing agencies/borrowers or clients while implementing development projects in Latin America and the Caribbean, particularly under the exceptional circumstances caused by the COVID-19 pandemic.

The yearly Superheroes of Development award will once again recognize the executing agencies, borrowers or clients of projects financed by the IDB Group (which includes the Inter-American Development Bank, IDB Invest and IDB Lab) that have successfully addressed different challenges in their implementation.
