Ilan Goldfajn Elected IDB President

(Updated to add the starting date) Ilan Goldfajn was elected president of the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB) today during a Special Meeting of the Bank’s Board of Governors. The meeting was held at IDB Headquarters in Washington, D.C., with delegations attending virtually and in person. Nominated by Brazil, Goldfajn will take office for a five-year term on December 19, 2022.

Build the Americas, a new tool to incentivize greater competition in infrastructure bids

The Inter-American Development Bank today launched Build the Americas, a mobile application designed to increase transparency and competition in the bidding process for infrastructure projects it finances in Latin America and the Caribbean. The Regional Initiative to Eliminate Malaria has presented today its first results to the heads of state and government of the region.
