The Inter-American Development Bank (IDB) is extending the deadline for artists to participate in an open call that is aimed for those who want to provoke, innovate and offer new perspectives on the development challenges of the region, as well as to demonstrate the immense artistic creativity of Latin America and the Caribbean. The call will be opened until January 17th of 2018. Artists from Latin America, the Caribbean, and the United States can participate.

Exhibition features works by 11 photojournalists from Argentina, Brazil, Colombia, Chile, Ecuador, Mexico, and Peru. The Inter-American Development Bank (IDB) will present the exhibition “ DIS\PLACE: Notions of Home in Latin American Photojournalism ” with works by 11 photojournalists who illustrate experiences of displacement in Latin America. The opening reception to the public will take place on November 15, 2017 at 6pm. Registration is free.

Partner institutions include artistic and cultural institutions and organizations of the Civil Society The Inter-American Development Bank (IDB) has selected 50 partner institutions to receive financing and technical assistance for cultural development projects in 26 countries. These projects will receive grants under the Cultural Development Program, designed to support artistic and creative endeavors.

Leading experts in the preservation and revitalization of historic urban centers will gather at the Inter-America Development Bank next week to examine the lessons learned by 10 cities that undertook pioneering efforts in this field. The two-day meeting, which is open the media, will feature short presentations on the experience of 10 cities in vastly different settings that have each carried out ambitious programs to restore and preserve historic districts as part of a broad strategy to generate jobs, attract tourists and protect cultural heritage.

The Inter-American Development Bank (IDB) has selected 28 partner institutions to finance and provide technical assistance to small-scale cultural development projects in 21 countries. Under the Bank’s Cultural Development Program, these projects will receive grants of US$3,000 and US$7,000. The Cultural Development Program, managed by the IDB Cultural Center, aims to promote cultural development in Latin America and the Caribbean by financing projects and working hand-in-hand as project partner.

The Inter-American Culture and Development Foundation (ICDF), a nonprofit organization commited to support cultural development, will launch the Bank of Musical Instruments, an initiative that aims to provide poor children in Latin America and the Caribbean with donated instruments. The event will take place on Tuesday, May 26 at 6:30 p.m., in the Enrique Iglesias Conference Center in Washington, D.C.
