IDB launches 2017 Call for Proposals to promote Regional Public Goods in Latin America and the Caribbean

The Inter-American Development Bank (IDB) launched the 2017 Call for Proposals of the Initiative for the Promotion of Regional Public Goods in Latin America and the Caribbean (LAC), which supports projects aimed at resolving shared challenges and seizing opportunities for development through regional cooperation among at least three countries. Since 2004, the RPG Initiative has financed 140 projects, investing a total of more than US$103 million.

On March 20, Embotelladora de Sula S.A. (Emsula) of the Corinsa Group inaugurated the largest photovoltaic rooftop solar system in Latin America in its facilities, located in San Pedro Sula, Honduras.This project was financed with support from the IDB and will contribute 3MW to a facility that bottles soft drinks, juices and purified water for various companies, including Pepsi, Gatorade and Lipton Tea.

Loans of up to $125 million to expand access to credit for green projects
The IDB approved a Green Line Partnership with Banco Pine S.A. in Brazil to expand access to financing for environmentally sustainable projects, particularly biofuels and renewable energy projects.
The IDB will provide an unsecured A/B loan of approximately $125 million to Banco Pine for working capital and long-term loans in these sectors, and to finance capital expenditures.

The 2012 IDEAS Energy Innovation Contest for the Caribbean was launched today.
Awards of up to US$200,000 are offered for projects and enterprises which promote energy efficiency and access to renewable energy in the Caribbean region.
Applications from Antigua and Barbada, Bahamas, Barbados, Belize, Dominica, Dominican Republic, Grenada, Guyana, Haiti, Jamaica, St Kitts and Nevis, St Lucia, St Vincent and the Grenadines, Suriname and Trinidad and Tobago are invited.
