Presidents of Honduras, Guatemala and El Salvador present the “Plan of the Alliance for Prosperity in the Northern Triangle” at the IDB

U.S. Vice President Joe Biden also to speak at 10 a.m. at Nov. 14 seminar “Investing in Central America: Opening up Opportunities for Growth,” in Washington, D.C.

With the goal of encouraging economic development and job creation in their countries, Presidents Juan Orlando Hernández of Honduras, Otto Pérez Molina of Guatemala and Salvador Sánchez Cerén of El Salvador will present the “Plan of the Alliance for the Prosperity of the Northern Triangle” on Friday, November 14.

U.S. Vice President Joe Biden will also deliver official remarks at 10 AM at the seminar, which will take place at the headquarters of the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB) in Washington, D.C.The Central American presidents will speak from 10:30-11:15 a.m. 

The “Plan of the Alliance for Prosperity in the Northern Triangle” outlines medium-term working guidelines and commitments by regional leaders to promote human well-being in the region, improve the work and business climate, ensure more effective government, create jobs, reduce poverty, improve the quality of services and expand economic opportunities for all of those in search of a better life.

The presentations by the three Central American Presidents, official remarks by Vice President Biden, and remarks by IDB President Luis Alberto Moreno, are invitation-only. The remarks will be followed by several panels including private-sector representatives on regional infrastructure and integration, job creation, and steps needed for improvement of the investment climate. Members of the news media are invited to cover the entire event, including the opening and the morning and afternoon seminar sessions, but must be pre-registered.
