The President of the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB), Luis Alberto Moreno, and finance ministers from seven Central American countries will meet Tuesday, May 27, in Washington, D.C., to discuss the social and economic impact of rising food prices.
Ministers from Costa Rica, El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras, Nicaragua, Panama and Dominican Republic will attend the meeting.
President Moreno and the ministers will hold a press conference at 12:45 p.m. on Tuesday, May 27, at the IDB’s Cecilio Morales Room, 1300 New York Ave., NW, Washington, D.C. to discuss the main challenges facing the region on the food crisis.
Moreno will also announce new IDB initiatives to help countries in Latin America and the Caribbean counter the economic and social impact of rising food prices.
