The Inter-American Development Bank (IDB) today announced the appointment of Gabriel Yorio Gonzalez, former Vice Minister at Mexico’s Ministry of Finance, as Vice President for Finance and Administration, effective November 16, 2024.
The IDB’s Board of Executive Directors today approved the appointment of Yorio Gonzalez, who will be responsible for mobilizing and managing the Bank’s financial resources and providing support services, and ensuring the effective, efficient performance of staff in the IDB’s budgeting, financing, corporate procurement, and administrative services.
“We are thrilled to welcome Gabriel as our new Vice President for Finance and Administration,” said IDB President Ilan Goldfajn. “With his extensive experience in the public sector in Mexico and in multilaterals dealing with financial affairs and managing large teams, Gabriel brings invaluable expertise to the IDB”.
Yorio Gonzalez, a citizen of Mexico, is an accomplished financial expert with extensive experience in public financial management and policy decision-making. He has previously served as Technical & Financial Assistance Deputy Director at the National Bank for Infrastructure and Public Services in Mexico and Debt Manager at the Government of Mexico City. He also held previous roles at the World Bank Group, giving him experience in the multilateral development sector. He holds a master’s degree in policy management from Georgetown University and a master’s degree in economics from El Colegio de Mexico.
