I have always bicycled around the city and embarked on multiple eco-adventures. That was how I found that the train was no longer working, and an idea that wobbled in my head awakened. On January 2, 2017 I decided that I would start that trip I wanted so much to do. Without many preparations and without wanting to prove anything to anyone, I went south looking for my north.The idea? To know the routes, the landscapes, the history of the train and experience the adventures that it could bring, in addition to making an audiovisual record and learn about the state of the tracks.

Los concursos de música son muy frecuentes. En ocasiones, ofrecen miles de dólares en premios, contratos de grabación, y a veces, hasta un debut en el Carnegie Hall. Pero sólo un participante ganará y los sueños de los demás se irán diluyendo, como el dinero invertido en participar al ser eliminados muchas veces, en la primera ronda. Cuando decidimos crear una orquesta de guitarras en Paraguay, teníamos que encontrar un filtro, porque nuestro presupuesto sólo alcanzaría para integrar a 20 jóvenes.

Music contests are very frequent. On occasion, they offer thousands of dollars in prizes, recording contracts, and sometimes even a debut at Carnegie Hall. But only one participant will win and the dreams of others will be diluted, as well as the money invested to participate when they are eliminated, many times, on the first round. When we decided to create a guitar orchestra in Paraguay, we had to find a filter, because our budget would only be enough to integrate 20 young people.

On November 9, the 2017 ALAS-IDB (Inter-American Development Bank) Early Childhood Development Awards were distributed in the four categories of best early childhood educator, best early childhood center, best children’s book, and best innovation in early childhood education. The work of each of the finalists resonated deeply with me.

Los Premios ALAS-BID al Desarrollo Infantil Temprano 2017 del Banco Interamericano de Desarrollo se celebraron el pasado 9 de noviembre y otorgaron reconocimientos en cuatro categorías: mejor maestro de primera infancia, mejor centro para la primera infancia, mejor libro para niños y mejor innovación en educación infantil temprana. El trabajo de cada uno de los finalistas resonó profundamente conmigo.

"Ayiti Cherie", me enorgullece dejarte con importantes avances logrados, pero es triste dejarte todavía necesitando mucho más. Llegué a Haití a principios de 2015 para dirigir el equipo de educación. Ha sido una experiencia extraordinaria; con la celebración de importantes resultados logrados y el establecimiento de alianzas estratégicas, pero también con negociaciones difíciles y situaciones complejas que han traído retrocesos.
