Le Chili est un pays membre fondateur de la BID. Comme tous les actionnaires, le Chili nomme un gouverneur qui représente le pays au Conseil des Gouverneurs.
Au siège de la banque à Washington, D.C., le Chili occupe un siège au sein du Conseil des directeurs exécutifs. Cette position est partagée avec l'Équateur et est dirigée par un directeur exécutif élu pour un mandat de trois ans par les gouverneurs des deux pays.

La stratégie pays 2022-2026 vise à renforcer les capacités productives du Chili pour faire face aux défis futurs et améliorer le bien-être de sa population. Le Groupe BID soutiendra le pays en promouvant l'innovation, en augmentant la productivité et en renforçant les capacités institutionnelles pour assurer une croissance durable et inclusive. Cette approche stratégique repose sur deux piliers principaux:
- Promouvoir la cohésion sociale et l'inclusion.
- Faciliter l'économie de demain.
Les deux piliers aborderont des thèmes transversaux clés tels que le genre, la diversité, l'inclusion et l'équité ; l'action climatique et la durabilité ; la capacité institutionnelle et l'État de droit ; la focalisation régionale ; et la numérisation.
