IDB Announces Punta del Este, Uruguay, as Host of 2022 Annual Meeting

  • The Bank’s Annual Meeting will spotlight post-pandemic economic recovery, climate change and private-sector investment in the region, among other key priorities included in Vision 2025.

The Board of Executive Directors of the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB) approved its Annual Meeting of the Boards of Governors of the IDB and IDB Invest to take place in Punta del Este, Uruguay, on March 17-20, 2022. This event will take place in a hybrid (virtual and limited face-to-face) format.

Economic and financial leaders of the 48 member countries of the Inter-American Development Bank are expected to discuss economic recovery and investment opportunities in Latin America and the Caribbean.

The annual meeting will consist of an array of events and seminars, to include private sector participation, and highlight the work of the IDB in the region. It will focus on themes such as digitalization, climate change, building a sustainable and inclusive economic recovery, and investment opportunities to kickstart the region’s post COVID-19 pandemic resurgence. This includes a continued dialogue on the IDB’s work to assess the institution’s role in supporting its member countries in the years ahead. Traditionally, the IDB releases its Macroeconomic Report at the Annual Meeting; next year’s will be on growth prospects for the region.

The 2022 Annual Meeting will be the 62nd annual gathering of the Board of Governors of the IDB and the 36th Annual Meeting of the Board of Governors of IDB Invest (whose legal name is the Inter-American Investment Corporation). The Boards of Governors are the institution’s main decision-making bodies of which most Governors are current Ministers of Finance, Ministers of Economy, or Central Bank Presidents.
