IDB Climate - Lake Ypacaraí Basin Sanitation Program
The general objective of the Program is to contribute to the environmental improvement and reduction of pollution in the Ypacaraí Lake basin through the implementation of structural and non-structural measures to comprehensively address the challenges. The specific objectives are: (i) Improvement and expansion of coverage of sanitary sewerage networks in areas that lack or have deficient services in areas prioritized by population density and deficient service provision (Yukyry sub basin); ii) Construction of a sewage treatment plant and pumping stations designed based on circular economy strategies for the reuse of the resource. iii) support in the determination of innovative models of administration, management, operation and maintenance for intermunicipal sanitation systems for the Lake basin and generate tools for the institutional strengthening of the Basin Authority (CONALAYPA) in order to face the implementation of the project. iv) implementation of non-structural measures to support a sustainable operation of the project considering stakeholder involvement.
