The objective of the RPG is to contribute to the improvement of the sufficient supply of agricultural and agri-food goods (i.e. inputs, food, etc.) for internal and external consumption, capturing nearshoring opportunities in the context of the COVID-19 pandemic. For accomplishing this objective, the RPG will prepare a methodological framework and a roadmap with prioritization of critical agricultural and/or agri-food supply chains, to guide policy actions at the national and regional level in the event of risks due to health crises and pandemics. In addition, the RPG will promote consensus building and regional capacity development to maintain the flow of international trade in food and production supplies. Finally, it will provide recommendations for harmonizing technological tools for risk management in health crises and pandemics, including monitoring, early warning and regional health emergency response planning.
