Argentina and Haiti
Miguel Braun holds a bachelor’s degree in economics (University of San Andrés) and a Ph.D. in economics (Harvard University).
Before joining the IDB Board of Executive Directors, he served as senior advisor at the Center for Strategic and International Studies and as associate researcher at the Harvard Growth Lab, where he worked on projects supporting the governments of South Africa and Jordan. He also worked as an economist in the IDB’s Integration and Trade Sector.
He served as Secretary of Economic Policy and Secretary of Commerce of Argentina (2015-2019).
He taught Public Finance at the University of Buenos Aires and at Torcuato di Tella University, and Macroeconomics at the University of San Andrés. He was a visiting researcher in the IDB’s Department of Research and was a member of the panel of experts of the Economía LACEA Journal of the Latin American and Caribbean Economic Association.
He is co-author of the book Macroeconomía Argentina and has published research and opinion columns in specialized journals and newspapers in Argentina and the region.
He was co-founder and Executive Director of the Center for the Implementation of Public Policy for Equity and Growth (CIPPEC), Executive Director of the Pensar Foundation, and Director at Banco Ciudad.
He is a member of the Argentine Council for International Relations (CARI) and received the distinction of Grand Officer of the Order of Rio Branco of the Federative Republic of Brazil.
