José Jorge Seligmann Silva

José Jorge Seligmann Silva, Brazilian and French citizen, is currently the Chief Advisor of the Office of the Executive Vice President at the Inter-American Development Bank where he joined in 1993.
Prior positions in this institution include Regional Operations Coordinator of the Southern Cone Department, Economist at the Strategy Office of the President, Country Coordinator for Brazil and Country Economist for Argentina, Brazil, Bolivia, Paraguay, Guyana and Haiti. Mr. Seligmann-Silva also worked as an economist at the Economic and Financial Advisory Board of Serfina S.A., the holding company of Bunge & Born Corporation (1984–1986) in São Paulo; as a consultant for the World Bank (1988); and taught at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign and at the Catholic University of America, Washington D.C. (1988–1992).
Mr. Seligmann-Silva has a B.S. degree in Economics from the University of São Paulo (USP) and a B.S. degree in Business Administration from the Escola de Administração de Empresas de São Paulo da Fundação Getúlio Vargas (EAESP-FGV). He has Master and Ph.D. degrees from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign in the fields of macroeconomics, international economics, and economic development.
