HO-G1006 : Support for the Integration of Honduras in the Regional Electricity Market and for Grid Access for Renewable Energy
Project Status: Implementation
The objective of the complementary financing is to improvephysical infrastructure conditions in Honduras to enable thecountry to participate effectively in the Regional Electricity Market(MER). This will be achieved by expanding two currentlyoperating substations that are part of Honduras' nationaltransmission system reinforcements, to increase the use of theCentral American Electrical Interconnection System (SIEPAC)and to facilitate the integration of nonconventional renewableenergy into the National Interconnected System. Theseadditional works will fall under Component I of the program(3103/BL-HO). The additional resources (US$7 million) represent30.5% of the original amount of financing (3103/BL-HO) for theprogram.
