Summary of the Request

The Request alleges possible impacts on the quality of life of the Requesters, due to the operational start-up of the Project. Specifically, the Request states:

• Potential effects on the Requesters’ property, considering that the construction and operation of the Project has caused the devaluation of their properties. Also, it raises possible health impacts caused by noise, visual and atmospheric pollution as a result of the construction work. Additionally, the Request advises on the lack of Project-related risk prevention and detection, in the event of a flood in the area where the Project was built and potential risk of fire due to the stored materials.

• On the other hand, the Request contains allegations of environmental damage to the area, which is characterized by large wetlands and natural and artificial regulation lagoons. Also, damage to the historic heritage of El Encuentro neighborhood is described for the construction of the Project.

• Finally, the Request warns of a possible breach of the Access to Information Policy, by not having received a response to your request for information.

Recent actions

On February 18, 2019, the MICI finalized the administrative processing of the Request so that the Requesters may establish contact with the Project Team and seek to respond to their concerns with them as a first instance. MICI informed the Requesters about the possibility of resubmitting the Request in case they consider that their concerns have not been addressed within a reasonable period of time.
