The Water and Sanitation Network constitutes a dialogue mechanism between the key policymakers from Latin America and the Caribbean, in the areas of water resource management and delivery of water and sanitation services. Its main objective is to raise awareness and disseminate best practices, contributing to foster regional cooperation and enrich the decision-making process of governments in the region.
Key topics covered in the network’s activities include the need to adapt water resource management and delivery of water and sanitation services to climate change, improve water sector governance, increase the efficiency and sustainability of water use and of service providers, and develop reliable financial resources.
This network complements IDB's activities carried out in the context of its Water and Sanitation Initiative, which supports widening access to these services in rural and urban areas, protecting watersheds and modernizing service providers.
