Technical cooperation projects at the sub-national level
The process of formulating the first interventions at the sub-national level (both regional and municipal) has revealed a bigger need and also a special interest among subnational governments (as well as among national/federal governments for supporting these local governments) in strengthening their results-based management. This reflects the increasing responsibilities for public service demands, especially social services, which are now being borne by subnational governments, and the permanent increase in fiscal funds transfers.
There is an increasing need to support subnational entities. In response to the countries’ demand, in 2008 Subaccount B began funding projects implementing MfDR in subnational governments, starting with countries that have shown progress and satisfactory commitment at the national level. In order to identify that kind of commitment, having a Subaccount B operation approved at a national level is essential.
