trade integration network
The Trade and Integration Network is constituted by high-level government officials responsible for trade and integration policy in Latin America and the Caribbean. The network conducts annual meetings with the objective of providing a forum for discussion and knowledge sharing between the main policymakers of the region and Bank’s specialists in key topics related to regional trade and integration.
In light of the challenges related to the implementation of trade agreements, development of external market opportunities and transition to liberalized trade, the network aims to create awareness among policymakers on the need to adopt a multisectoral agenda in relation with trade and integration.
The IDB Ninth General Capital Increase (GCI-9) set the stage for a renewed integration strategy. It prioritizes trade and integration objectives in Bank operations. Through its activities, the network has an important role in contributing to meeting these objectives.
