Latin America and the Caribbean is the fastest-aging region in the world. Rapid population aging means the number of older people who need support to complete activities of daily living will increase sharply. Without services, care responsibilities tend to fall to families, particularly women within families.

In 2018, the Inter-American Development Bank created the Panorama of Aging and Long-Term Care website to promote long-term care systems in Latin America and the Caribbean. The French Development Agency and the European Union’s EUROsociAL+ program have also enriched this portal through their collaboration.
