Chiaki Yamamoto is a Lead Evaluations Specialist at the Office of Oversight and Evaluation (OVE) of the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB) Group. Prior to joining OVE in June 2020, she held various positions in the World Bank Group where she worked for 23 years. Her areas of expertise are results measurement, private sector development, and public private partnership (PPP).
Chiaki served as the Team Lead for IFC’s results measurement team in Europe, Central Asia, Middle East and North Africa regions, overseeing results measurement cycle for both investment and advisory operations and working closely with the management to monitor performance, communicate results, and provide input for strategy. She led several evaluations on private sector development and infrastructure, with emphasis on feeding lessons learnt back to strategy formulation. She led and co-led the establishment and implementation of performance monitoring frameworks for client governments and WBG-managed global trust funds. She also contributed to the rollout of IFC’s first development measurement framework for tis investment operation.
Her operational experience is focused on PPP. She has provided technical support on private participation in the World Bank’s infrastructure and health operations in South Asia and East Asia, co-led a successful PPP transaction in the health sector in Africa, and conducted sector analysis globally. As Senior Public Private Partnership specialist, she also oversaw joint MDB initiatives for client capacity building, including PPP Certification program and PPP Knowledge Lab.
