Latino Youth Summit gathers more than 200 at the IDB

Over 200 youths participated in the first Latino Youth Summit, a Washington, DC event hosted by Mayor Adrian M. Fenty, his Office of Latino Affairs and the Inter-American Development Bank. Mayor Fenty, a young leader himself who grew up in public local schools, set up the tone to spawn youth ideas for community improvement and development. Youths between the ages of 12 and 22 looked at a variety of issues affecting their daily lives, including security in schools, school dropouts, teen pregnancy, use of alcohol and drugs, gangs and college expectations.
