IDB launches Superheroes of Development contest to recognize executing agencies

IDB welcomes Banco Agrícola as issuing and confirming Bank under its Trade Finance Facilitation Program (TFFP)

The Inter-American Development Bank (IDB) announced today that Banco Agrícola of El Salvador joined the IDB’s Trade Finance Facilitation Program (TFFP). Under the TFFP, the IDB extends guarantees to cover letters of credit, promissory notes, bid bonds, performance bonds, advance payment bonds and other instruments used in international trade transactions. The TFFP can help Banco Agrícola to further increase its trade finance business and to take advantage of the TFFP’s countercyclical effects during times of volatility in trade finance flows. TFFP

IDB releases annual report on anti-corruption activities

The Inter-American Development Bank sanctioned 25 individuals and eight firms as a result of investigations carried out during 2008, according to a report released today.The 2008 Annual Report of the IDB’s Office of Institutional Integrity (OII) describes the Bank’s efforts to prevent and investigate the occurrence of fraud and corruption in Bank-financed activities. It offers a detailed summary of a sampling of the 222 inquiries and allegations received by the OII and 150 investigations it carried out last year.
