IDB launches Superheroes of Development contest to recognize executing agencies

In its second edition, the call for proposals will be open from March 4th to May 17th, 2019. The Superheroes of Development Award will recognize executing agencies of IDB-financed projects that have successfully addressed challenges during its implementation. The contest will identify eight finalists from across Latin America and the Caribbean who will travel to IDB’s Headquarters in Washington, D.C. to present their solutions.

IDB to join new Caribbean Climate-Smart Accelerator to facilitate $1bn of investments

Haiti signs contract with Alstom-Comelex to refurbish its principal hydro plant

Three-year project funded by IDB, Germany’s KfW, OFID PORT-AU-PRINCE – The government of Haiti today signed a contract with the French consortium Alstom-Comelex to restore the Péligre hydroelectric plant, the country’s principal renewable energy source. The Inter-American Development Bank, the German development finance agency KfW and OFID, OPEC’s fund for international development, are providing the funds to finance the three-year, $48.8 million rehabilitation contract.

MIF to present in Madrid new index on public-private partnerships in Latin America and the Caribbean

The Inter-American Development Bank’s Multilateral Investment Fund (MIF) will launch a new index on public-private partnerships (PPPs) for infrastructure projects in Latin America and the Caribbean at a news conference to be held on Monday, October 26 in Madrid, Spain. The index, known as the Infrascope, was commissioned by the MIF and developed by the Economist Intelligence Unit as a tool to help governments and potential investors analyze Latin American and Caribbean countries’ capacity to implement PPPs in the transportation and water sectors.
