New program will benefit some 8,000 rural residents in the provinces of Chaco and Entre Ríos The Inter-American Development Bank (IDB) approved a loan for $30 million to Argentina to finance a program to increase incomes more than 2,000 family farms in the provinces of Chaco and Entre Ríos, of which 14 percent are managed by women heads of houshold.

Program backed by the IDB since 1996 benefits farmers beyond the Pampas with projects involving productive infrastructure, extension services and agro-food businesses The Inter-American Development Bank (IDB) approved a $230 million loan to promote the development of Argentina’s non-Pampean regional rural economies by making them more competitive and increasing their exports, estimating this will benefit 17,000 farmers and 490,000 other persons in rural areas. The new loan will also benefit areas affected by an eruption of the Puyehue volcano earlier this year.
