The IDB is initiating the first phase of public consultation on the development of its new Strategy on Social Policy for Equity and Productivity. The Strategy under development will guide the Bank’s operational and analytical work in social areas, with the objective of improving impacts on equity and productivity.

The Inter-American Development Bank (IDB), the largest source of multilateral financing for Latin America and the Caribbean, has launched a broad public consultation on the draft of its Integrated Strategy for Climate Change Adaptation and Mitigation, and Sustainable and Renewable Energy. This public consultation includes a 90-day online forum in addition to meetings with representatives of civil society, including non-governmental organizations across the region and in Washington DC. The consultation is a critical step toward the adoption of a new climate change strategy.
IDB establishes the First Panel of Experts of Independent Consultation and Investigation Mechanism (ICIM)

The Inter-American Development Bank has appointed five independent experts to the Independent Consultation and Investigation Mechanism (ICIM). The panelists will verify the Bank is complying with its commitments and its operational policies. The appointment complements the nomination in September of Isabel Lavadenz-Paccieri as Project Ombudsperson of the ICIM.

The Inter-American Development Bank (IDB) published today on its Web site the report that provides the strategic direction for the Bank over the next decade. The Report on the Ninth General Increase in the Resources of the Inter-American Development Bank establishes the IDB’s strategic priorities, institutional reforms and accountability for results related to the Bank’s capital increase. The report also details the financial terms and conditions to implement the general capital increase.

The Inter-American Development Bank (IDB) completed last week a far-reaching public consultation related to its capital increase. About 500 civil society organizations in the Americas and Europe participated in the consultation either through meetings with the IDB management or by submitting their recommendations through the Bank's public consultation page. The consultation process began on Sept. 8 and ended on Jan. 9.

Second and last day of official sessions of the Annual Meeting of the Board of Governors of the Inter-American Development Bank, at the Plaza Mayor Convention Center. Representatives of the 48 member-countries are discussing during the two-day meeting the economic situation of Latin America and the Caribbean and ways the IDB can increase support to the region. In the evening, after the closing session, a socio-cultural event with artist Carlinhos Brown will take place at the Metropolitan Theater. 9:00 a.m. - 1:00 p.m.
