The Inter-American Development Bank is coordinating the Focus on the Americas sessions during World Water Week in Sweden’s capital, with a focus on adopting a new paradigm to close the gap in secure sanitation services in the region. STOCKHOLM, Sweden – Providing safe sanitation for all in Latin America requires not only significant investments, but a change of paradigm to be able to do more with less resources. Right now, only 22% to the population of Latin America and the Caribbean have access to those services.

BUENOS AIRES—In the first quarter of 2018, the value of exports from Latin America and the Caribbean grew at a year-on-year rate of 9.7 percent in comparison with the same period in 2017, according to a new report from the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB). However, this growth has come amid signs that the region is becoming less competitive amid rising economic risks and global trade tensions.

A capital challenge in Haiti

That month he moved to Haiti as head of a team of five technical, financial and management experts from Suez and two sister companies, Aguas de Barcelona and United Water. Their mission: to work with the staff of Port-au-Prince’s ailing water utility to arrest the decline of its services.
