Members of the media are invited to cover the signing and flag placement ceremony marking China’s entry as a donor member into the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB). The event will take place on Monday, January 12, at 11:00 am. China is also joining the IDB Group’s Inter-American Investment Corporation (IIC) and the Multilateral Investment Fund (MIF).

Following the proceedings, China will formally become the 48th member of the IDB Group and will participate in the upcoming Annual Meeting of IDB Governors in March 27-31 in Medellin, Colombia.

IDB President Luis Alberto Moreno, China’s ambassador to the United States Zhou Wenzhong and Mme. Jin Qi, the head of international affairs at the People’s Bank of China will hold a media availability after the ceremony. The Secretary General of the Organization of American States Jose Miguel Insulza will also be present.
