The Inter-American Development Bank (IDB) is organizing on October 21&ndash22, 2010 a China-LAC Business Forum in the city of Chengdu, with the China Council for the Promotion of International Trade (CCPIT) and in close collaboration with the People’s Bank of China and the Sichuan Provincial Government.
Top level government officials and business executives from Latin America and the Caribbean (LAC), China, Japan and Korea will participate in sector-specific discussion panels to analyze current business conditions and opportunities. More than 700 China, LAC and Asian officials and companies have registered so far for the event.
The primary objective of the event is to facilitate one-on-one meetings of LAC entrepreneurs with potential Chinese and Asian strategic partners for investment projects and buyers for LAC’s goods and services. For this purpose, the IDB and the CCPIT will offer on line matchmaking services for registered private sector participants at no cost.
Distinguished speakers will include Nizan Guanaes, CEO, Grupo ABC; Guan Dong Yuan, Managing Director, EMBRAER CHINA; Luis Fernando Alarcón, CEO, ISA; Antonio Neto, CFO, Los Grobo; Marcelo Claure, CEO, BRIGHTSTAR; Gesner Oliveira, President, SABESP; Jeffrey Davidow, President, Instituto de las Americas; Anabel González, Trade Minister of Costa Rica, among others.
Plenary sessions will focus on topics such as: Doing Business in China and LAC, Risks Assessment and Dispute Resolution, A Structured Model for Sustainable Growth, Opportunities for Trade and Investment China-LAC, Long-Term Infrastructure Investments. Other panels will explore trade and partnerships opportunities in energy and mining, renewable energy, and other sectors such as tourism and services.
