Inter-American Development Bank President Luis Alberto Moreno expressed his profound condolences and his solidarity to the government and the people of Chile after their country was hit by a massive earthquake today.
An 8.8-magnitude earthquake shook Chile's south central region early on Saturday.
Moreno is offering the support of the IDB to the government of President Michelle Bachelet and to the team of President-elect Sebastián Piñera, who assumes the presidency on March 11.
"Our hearts go out to the people of Chile and we share their sorrow at the human suffering this natural disaster has brought," Moreno said. "We stand by them and are ready to assist in any way we can be of help."
