The MICI gets together with Civil Society in Trinidad and Tobago

The MICI was invited to participate in the “V IDB Group – Caribbean Civil Society Forum” that took place in Port of Spain, on May 27th, 2015. Civil Society organizations from the Caribbean participated in the event that was organized by the Bank´s Vice-presidency for Countries. The presentation by Victoria Márquez-Mees, Interim Director of the MICI was framed by the session topic: “Can the Bank’s Safeguard and Accountability Framework be considered a social innovation?”. The presentation was aimed at explaining the mandate of the IDB´s accountability mechanism that addresses allegations of harm from individuals and/or communities, in the context of a Bank-financed operation, of potential non-compliance with any of its operational policy. Furthermore, Ms. Márquez-Mees offered a thorough explanation of the process that the MICI follows when a request is received, using a recently-managed case as example.
