Summary of the Request

The Request describes a potential harm to the living conditions of the Requester caused by the eviction from his business, a mechanical workshop, for the construction of the Project.

The Requester alleges that the agreements established on compensation and assistance for relocation were not fulfilled by the executing agency. In addition, the inventories made by the executing agency were not considered for the compensation process.

Likewise, the Requester states that his economic conditions have deteriorated since he had to sell the equipment used in his business at a lower cost and has been forced to work as a driver for an application that is not regulated in the country. On the other hand, the Request states that the payment of taxes required by the executing agency aggravates the situation of economic vulnerability of the Requester.

Recent actions

On August 23rd, 2022, the Request was not registered to allow the Requester to establish an initial contact with the Project Team (Management) through the following protocol: https://www.iadb.org/en/projects/grievances-portal. The Requester was notified of the possibility of resubmitting the Request to the MICI if their concerns have not been addressed within a reasonable period.

The Parties were notified and the MICI process was concluded. It is important to note that the Notification of Non-Registration is not an assessment of the merits of the Request, or the issues presented in it. Nor is it a determination of compliance or non-compliance by the IDB of its Relevant Operational Policies.
